Evawave won the Grand Prize in the finals of the 2026 Yongin Y-MAKER Challenge (makerthon), hosted by the Yongin Industry Promotion Agency. Our entry was a small in-home sensor node — a kit that checks, without cameras, whether an older adult is going about their day as usual.
What we showed at the competition was not an idea but a working device. Over about three weeks of build time, we designed and built the node ourselves, and in the finals we presented results from running continuously since early August in three real seniors' homes.
The same entry also placed third at the 2026 ICT Convergence Hardware Hackathon on August 13.
More valuable than the award is the time the system has run in real homes. We will carry what we learned there into the pilot product.
